The museum boasts an extraordinary collection, the most comprehensive of its kind worldwide, which includes approximately 35,000 pieces of jewelry belonging to Calima, Quimbaya, Tayrona, Muisca and St.Augustine civilizations, made out of gold and TUMBAGA (the Spanish name for the low quality alloy of gold and copper). The beliefs skills, culture and view of the cosmos of the indigenous tribes are reflected in pieces made of pottery, shell, stone, bone, among other materials. Go through the five rooms of the Gold Museum: The work room, metals room, the people and gold room, cosmology and symbolism room, and finally the offerings and exploration room.
This last room promotes interaction through activities which reflect on the significance of the legacy of the pre-Columbian cultures.
